Life happens fast and it can change at the drop of a hat. In a matter of moments, a person can wind up in an unthinkable situation. For a young woman residing in Charlotte, this happened to her twice. Dionyah Thompson was 23 years old and she came up with a big win. Back in October 2022, Thompson won a $150,000 lottery. That is a life-changing amount of money, if invested right. Sadly, Thompson barely had time to enjoy the money. She would up losing her life, after being a victim in a shooting.

During Valentine’s Day, Dionyah Thompson hung out in Uptown Charlotte with friends. People spend those kinds of holidays in different ways. While those who are in relationships choose to be with their significant others, Thompson was out with a male friend. Whatever she chose to do, Thompson assumed she would make it back home in one piece. That is a safe assumption. Unfortunately, this ended up not being the case.

Apparently, Dionyah Thompson was on some kind of Valentine’s Day date. She was out with a male friend at a brewery, on Tryon St., in Uptown Charlotte. According to reports, it was a normal outing, with Thompson and this unnamed man. However, as they were leaving the venue, a vehicle drove beside them and opened fire. As a result, Thompson and her male friend were shot multiple times. Thompson would pass away, as a result of the injuries. This was four months after she won $150,000 in the lottery.
