Eight year old Chicago boy reveals he was punched by the adult “lunchman” at school

Chicago boy says he was punched by adult at school

On Friday, a third grader in the Chicago Public Schools System claimed he was punched, while he was in the cafeteria. If this was done by another student, it would have been bad enough. However, this boy was assaulted by an adult. In his own words, the young man said he was hit by “the lunchman.” According to the news reports, surveillance footage was captured that day. The boy’s mother was not allowed to watch the footage. There is a disturbing trend of students being harmed in school, but the parents not being informed.

In this case, the child was actually assaulted by a person of authority. While it is unclear whether or not the child was misbehaving, there was no reason for a grown up to use their fist against a child. What is clear is that the child is only eight years old. Surely, if there were anything he was doing that was out of line, no adult had to actually punch him. Also, by using such force against a child of that age, the child is likely traumatized. There is no way that child can feel safe, after going through a situation like that.

The young child is named Jamil Coopwood. He is a student at Oscar DePriest Elementary School in Chicago. Coopwood depicted being hit in the gut by a “lunchman.” According to his mother, things started out promising, when the principal launched an investigation. However, as things progressed, the child spoke with investigators without his mother’s knowledge. After that, the employee continued to work, while being investigated. Meanwhile, the child said the man would give him weird looks during lunch.
