This year, a lot of attention has gone to Cardi B, Drake, and Nicki Minaj, as they have been the most-discussed artists. But, Childish Gambino has had just as good of a year as them. Because he has done so much, a lot of it has gone overlooked.
To start 2018, Childish Gambino brought “Atlanta” back for the first time in over a year to critical acclaim. When the show ended, he returned to music, officially putting Childish Gambino on the map. He did that with his “This Is America” single, an accurate portrayal of the 2010s.
Childish Gambino managed to break the stranglehold Cardi B and Drake have had on the top spot on Billboard with his record. The song became a massive hit and has had staying power. Even though it’s not charting as high, CB has crossed 400 million views on YouTube with the video.
