When Rudy Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, many believed it wouldn’t work. The previous five seasons saw Gobert form a dominant duo with Donovan Mitchell in Utah. However, they only clicked in the regular season. During the playoffs, the Jazz always fell apart. Meanwhile, the Wolves had a weaker duo in Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Last season, Minnesota lost in the first round to the eventual champion Nuggets. This year, they figured some things out. But, Gobert airballed a free-throw, during their win over the Clippers.

While the NBA world is worried about the Warriors’ losses, the Wolves are winning. Quietly, they have compiled the West’s best record. In addition, Anthony Edwards is slowly becoming the NBA’s best player. As a result, Minnesota is holding onto the West’s best record. However, the Los Angeles Clippers have also been playing well. They’ve overcome a slow start to the season, after an early season trade for former MVP, James Harden. Tonight, the Clippers were in Minnesota, playing Anthony Edwards and those Timberwolves.

Rudy Gobert promised to help turn the Timberwolves into contenders. In each of his final five seasons with the Jazz, Gobert helped lead them to the playoffs. With the Wolves, he formed a front court duo with Karl-Anthony Towns. Their job is to back up Anthony Edwards. Tonight, it worked to perfection, as he delivered 33 points. Gobert also dominated, delivering 15 points and 18 rebounds. But when he airballed his one of his free throws, the Clippers on the bench were laughing at him. However, the Wolves got the last laugh, winning the game.
