DaBaby compares himself to Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole
DaBaby has been a star, ever since his “Suge” single took off, in 2019. He went on to score two straight number one albums as well, but began running into controversy. The Charlotte rapper was slammed for homophobic comments on stage during Rolling Loud 2021, and was bashed for feuding with former friend, Megan Thee Stallion, last summer.
However, DaBaby released the second installment of his “Baby On Baby” mixtape series last month, which debuted at number 34, on the Billboard 200 chart. Controversy was included on this project as well, as DaBaby had a Megan Thee Stallion lookalike, in the video for “Boogeyman.”
Despite various opinions about him, DaBaby still believes he’s one of the best rappers in the game. He recently appeared on the “My Expert Opinion” podcast with Math Hoffa, and claimed that he’s on the same skillset as artists such as Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.
“Ok you can put this beat on and I’ll go Eminem level on that b*tch, you gotta get one of them to come f*ck with me. You gotta go get Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, I don’t wanna disrespect nobody but boy, raise your hand. I’m like that. N****s know too and I’m like that for real I don’t gotta talk about nobody else story. I’ll talk about me.”
Kendrick and J. Cole are definitely two legends, so Dababy using them as examples is definitely reasonable. But, comparing himself to them is definitely debatable, for fans.
