The past decade has seen sports and hip hop make their relationship official. Rappers, like Drake, helped this along, due to their friendships with athletes. Especially, in the NBA, this is the case, as Drizzy took on a role with the Toronto Raptors, during their rise to contention.
Drake has consistently been one of the top rappers, since 2009. But, from 2010 until 2020, he had an unparalleled run on top of the game. Every year, he dropped huge records, including 2017, when he took a yearlong break from the game, ending that in 2018, with another chart-topper.
With his new album, Certified Lover Boy, Drake has burned through release dates. Originally, the album was due in January, but each date comes and goes, without an album release. This morning, ESPN’s highlights were briefly interrupted, with a sign that reads “CLB September 3,” leading many to believe this is the album’s release date.
