Foxy Brown praises Nicki Minaj on new album

The legends of female rap are showing the importance of supporting one another. Nicki Minaj’s fifth studio album Pink Friday 2, arrived to fans earlier this month. Already making history, Pink Friday 2 is now Nicki’s third number one album, breaking Foxy Brown’s previous record. Taking a moment to congratulate Nicki, Foxy Brown shared the achievement via her Instagram story.

Foxy Brown is one of music’s greatest female MC’s. During the 1990’s her debut album Ill Na Na received critical acclaim debuting at number one on the charts. The now certified platinum debut was followed up with her second album Chyna Doll, also debuting at the number one spot. Foxy Brown was the second female rapper to have two number one albums, knocking Lauryn Hill out of the spot. Although praised for her musical talent, Foxy’s later albums never reached the success of her first two releases.

The contribution that Foxy Brown gave to rap is magnificent, so much so that it inspired Nicki Minaj herself. Throughout Nicki’s career she always makes a point to mention how much Foxy Brown influences her. Foxy also shared a heartfelt birthday post to Nicki while congratulating her on the historical album.
