Gangsta Boo reportedly passed away due to overdose

On New Year’s Day, hip-hop was met with a horrible loss to start 2023. That was due to legendary Memphis rapper Gangsta Boo passing away, at the age of 43. She was found inside her Memphis home, in the Whitehaven area of the city. Boo was said to have been with her brother, the night before, as the two attended a concert together. He was hospitalized due to an overdose, and treated at a local hospital. However, he ended up recovering.

Furthermore, at the time of Boo’s death, it was suspected that she also suffered an overdose. On Wednesday, an official autopsy report came out, which stated that Boo did suffer this overdose, according to Fox 13 Memphis. These included fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.

Boo’s funeral went on to be held in both Southaven, MS, as well as Memphis. This included an appearance by GloRilla, who began a solid friendship with Boo. The two even appeared on Latto’s “FTCU” single, in December. Boo made a name for herself in the late 1990s and 200s, by being part of the legendary Three 6 Mafia group. She began releasing solo albums in 1998, as her last project was “Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera,” in 2003.
