Big Pokey passes away after collapsing on stage in Texas
Beloved Houston rapper Big Pokey passed away on Saturday night, at the age of 45, after suddenly collapsing on stage. According to TMZ, he was at a bar in Beaumont, and had a microphone in his hand. While speaking to the ground, Pokey suddenly collapsed, as many soon came near him to check the status of his health.
As a result, a woman in attendance who’s a nurse quickly rushed to give Pokey medical assistance, as EMS soon arrived. However, he went on to pass away at a local hospital. Furthermore, an official cause of death has yet to be listed.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell,” said Pokey’s rep to TMZ. “Big Pokey passed away … He was well loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects. We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter!'”Pokey’s last project came in March, which was his “Play Tha Game” EP, with J-Dawg. Five new tracks were included. Pokey also appeared on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Southside Royalty Freestyle” in 2022, which was on Meg’s “Traumazine” album. Furthermore, he was part of the legendary DJ Screw’s Screwed Up group.
