Ja Morant sued after punching 17-year-old in basketball game

Over the last several NBA seasons, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has established himself as one of the best players in the league. The Grizzlies nearly went to the Western Conference Finals last season, but dealt with an injury to Morant, Vs the Golden State Warriors.

Currently, the Grizzlies stand at second in the West, at 23-13. However, Morant is now dealing with a concerning legal issue.

According to TMZ, Morant allegedly attacked a 17-year-old boy during a basketball game at his home, last July, on the 26th. As a result, a lawsuit was initially filed last September, in Shelby County, in Memphis. Morant’s property is located in Eads, TN.

The alleged altercation is said to have happened in the middle of a pickup basketball game, at the home. A ball was thrown at Morant, which was supposedly an accident, and landed in his face. Morant soon punched the boy, as he ended up on the ground.

Morant is said to have continued to attack him while on the ground, as someone else also joined in. The injuries ended up being a lathe knot on the boy’s head.

Morant later told police that he was defending himself, and that the boy wanted to fight him. He even went as far as claiming that the boy said he would light the home up, as he was being escorted out.  When this case was submitted the case to the district attorney’s office on October 4, as prosecution wasn’t moved forward with.
