Jury selection in Young Thug and YSL’s RICO trial could take several more months to complete

Jury selection in Young Thug’s YSL RICO case delayed

Young Thug and YSL’s RICO trial was initially supposed to kick off on January 9, with jury selection. However, there have been issues ran into along the way, including a juror who went on vacation during the process of jury selection. As a result, that person was ordered to write a 30-page essay about the importance of jury duty.

However, there are more developments regarding how long this jury duty process may take. According to Jozsef Papp of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, this may take several more months. 300 new jurors will be summoned on February 24, and another group will be summoned on March 24.

The process will be completed in four months, if 3-5 jurors are brought in per day. It could be shortened to two and a half months, if 12 per day come in. This also comes after Thug was recently seen receiving a Percocet from his co-defendant, during a court hearing.

Many YSL members have been able to reach plea deals, prior to the jury selection process. This included Gunna, who received credit for time served, along with a 4-year suspended sentenced. He also admitted that YSL is a gang, contrary to what was trying to be said otherwise, by other members. Thug and Gunna were initially arrested in May of 2022. 26 other members were also indicted
