Kanye West claims Donda’s Stem Player never made any money, despite the $2.2 million in revenues, in the midst of drama surrounding unauthorized use of song streaming on the player

Kanye West claims Stem Player never made any money

Kanye West’s business acumen is overlooked, despite all of the money he’s made. Even still, Kanye managed to resume business with Adidas. Although the deal is temporary, Ye’s newest partnership is worth over $500 million. As a rapper-turned-mogul, Kanye West has his hands in several pots. Among them was streaming. A year ago, he was promoting Stem Player. Now, Stem Player is facing a lawsuit over unauthorized streaming of music. As a result, Kanye is saying the company never profited.

Kanye West is often called “crazy,” but he’s proven to be smarter than most expected. First of all, when he got into clothing, Kanye didn’t accept the endorsement deal. Instead, Ye fought and launched a true clothing brand. What made the company so profitable was the partnerships Yeezy had with several brands. The most-profitable partnership was with Adidas. This allowed GAP and Balenciaga to get in, as they hoped for similar profits.

Kanye West had business aspirations outside of clothing, with streaming being one. Stem Player was Kanye’s foray into streaming and this was an actual physical device. Ye used Stem Player to release his 2022 album, Donda 2. While the Stem Player has not made many headlines, it has continued to stream music. Recently, the company was hit with a lawsuit due to playing an unauthorized sample. As a result, Kanye is now speaking out, claiming the company never actually made money. He says this in spite of the $2.2 million the company made.
