Quite a bit has changed with Kanye West since his 2004 breakthrough as a solo artist. In many ways, he filled the void Jay Z left, when he traded the studio for the boardroom. Jay Z ran Def Jam, overseeing Rihanna, Jeezy, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, and others signing there.
Kanye West, meanwhile, paced the label as the most-recognizable figure. In 2011, he made his own mogul move, when he formed a partnership with Def Jam for G.O.O.D. Music. This move helped the likes of Big Sean and Pusha T develop into stars.
Along the way, Kanye West became one of hip hop’s most controversial figures. But, he has proven to be a dedicated man to his wife of three years, Kim Kardashian. During a recent performance, he revealed he was no longer performing his songs with Jay Z or Beyonce, due to them not checking up on him when Kim was robbed in Paris, now he wants to do his album with Drake.
