In 2022, Kendrick Lamar had a massive year. He finally released his first album since early 2017, which was “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. That was his fifth studio album, and went on to easily debut at number one in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart. It also had one of the biggest first week sales of 2022. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was a double album, and included collaborations with Summer Walker, Kodak Black, Ghostface Killah, and more. It’s also Grammy-nominated for Best Rap Album.

However, Kendrick’s previous studio albums also continue to post huge numbers. According to Chart Data, his “good kid m.A.A.d. city” album was the number one best selling rap album of 2022 in the US in pure sales. This project was released back in 2012, and is regarded as one of the best hip-hop albums of all-time.

GKMC initially debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. It’s also currently 3x platinum in the US. The album was led by hit singles such as “Swimming Pools,” “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake, and “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Kendrick also collaborated with Dr. Dre, Jay Rock, and Mary J. Blige. This project was also the one that soared Kendrick into stardom, and brought him into the conversation of being one of the best artists of that current generation.
