Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5” earns two Grammy wins
Kendrick Lamar came into tonight’s Grammys with eight nominations, which is the most out of all the male nominated artists, for 2023. Ahead of the Grammys being aired on television later on, he has already earner several more Grammy victories.
As a result, Kendrick just scored Grammys for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. This is for his “The Heart Part 5” single, which was released last spring. The video for it heavily went viral on social media, as Kendrick morphed into Kobe Bryant, Nipsey Hussle, OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Kanye West, and more, as he was rapping from their perspectives.
Kendrick’s release of The Heart Part 5 led him to finally releasing his “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” album, in May. This was his first album since 2017, and became his third straight number one project in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was also Kendrick’s final album on Top Dawg Entertainment. He had been with the Los Angeles-based record label for over 15 years, but is now focusing on his PgLang label, as he has his cousin Baby Keem there, as well.
