Kevin Durant makes Phoenix Suns debut and scores his first points, against the Charlotte Hornets [VIDEO]

Kevin Durant makes Phoenix Suns debut vs Charlotte Hornets

Kevin Durant originally asked to be traded to the Phoenix Suns, in the offseason. In many ways, him leaving the Brooklyn Nets mirrored his departure from Oklahoma City for Golden State. The Suns owned the NBA’s best record, but imploded in the playoffs, losing a disappointing Game 7. Like his fit with the Warriors, the Suns having Kevin Durant makes them instant title contenders. Already, the Suns made it to the NBA Finals, led by Devin Booker and Chris Paul.

Kevin Durant eventually withdrew his trade request, opting to stay with Brooklyn. After Steve Nash was removed as head coach, KD really turned up his play. As a result, the Nets made a push for the Eastern Conference’s best record. Until Durant’s injury, it looked like the Brooklyn Nets would make noise, alongside the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers. However, KD went down with injury, and Kyrie Irving requested a trade to the Dallas Mavericks. So, KD eventually went to Phoenix.

Kevin Durant targeted March 1 as his return, against the Charlotte Hornets. All season, the Hornets have struggled. Coaching issues, injuries, and personal drama ruined the rising team. However, Charlotte went on an inexplicable five game winning streak. Unfortunately, during the win over the Detroit Pistons, LaMelo Ball reinjured his ankle. As a result, the Hornets were shorthanded against the Suns. So, KD was able to make his debut, and dominate. The Suns won 105-91 in Charlotte.
