LeBron James commits to play with Team USA next summer
LeBron James led the Lakers on an unlikely run, during the 2023 NBA playoffs. While some have criticized the Lakers for getting swept, this was a 43-39 team in the Conference Finals. Not only were they the seventh seed, but the Lakers dethroned the defending champion Warriors. For Steve Kerr, the bad news got worse, when Team USA lost to Team Canada for the bronze medal. After Dillon Brooks went off, LeBron James has signed on to play with Team USA in 2024.
LeBron James received a lot of flack for playing on Team USA in 2004. During his first trip to the Olympics, Team USA only managed a bronze medal. That year, many of the NBA’s top talents opted to sit out of the tournament. However, in 2008, LeBron came back. In addition, Kobe Bryant joined. As a result, the “Redeem Team” went on a tear. While 2023 is a non-Olympic year, the results were disappointing.
LeBron James was infamously taunted by Dillon Brooks, during the 2023 playoffs. Despite this, Brooks was not re-signed by the Memphis Grizzlies. As a result, he had something to prove. For Team Canada, he went off in the bronze medal game. After that, he said he channeled his inner Kobe Bryant. Now, the roster for Team USA in 2024 is filling out. LeBron James has committed. In addition, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Davis, and Draymond Green have signed on.
