Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” video surpasses 1 billion views
Over three years ago, Lil Nas X soared into superstardom. That was due to the massive success of his “Old Town Road” single. The remix soon featured country legend Billy Ray Cyrus, after Nas X’s original version kept being labeled as not a legit country record, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Nas X’s Old Town Road remix with Billy Ray Cyrus went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is the highest certified song, in RIAA history. Currently, it stands at 16x platinum.
Now, Old Town Road has achieved another huge milestone. It has just surpassed 1 billion views, on YouTube. It’s also Nas X’s first YouTube video to reach this mark. His second highest viewed video is “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”
Old Town Road went on to appear on Nas X’s debut “7” EP, in 2019. Nas X would later go on to finally release his debut studio album in 2021, “Montero.” That debuted at number two in the US, as it had two number one singles in “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow.
