Lil Uzi Vert’s upcoming “Saturday Night Live” performance gets canceled due to ongoing writers’ strike

Lil Uzi Vert’s “SNL” performance canceled due to writers‘ strike

This week, production of various television shows, films and late night talk shows have been paused. This is due to a massive writers strike in which employees behind the scenes of many of these projects aren’t being fairly compensated, especially on the ones airing on streaming platforms. This strike has been set up by the Writers Guild Of America.

One of the shows being affected by this writers strike is “Saturday Night Live.” As a result, reruns of the show are airing on NBC. Therefore, the upcoming May 6 episode in which Pete Davidson was supposed to host, is no longer scheduled. In addition to Davidson hosting, Lil Uzi Vert was also supposed to be the musical guest performer.

It was expected by many, that Uzi would perform his latest hit single, “Just Wanna Rock,” on SNL. This has been one of the biggest records in the US since it was released last fall, as it peaked at number 10 in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It’s also certified 2x platinum. Uzi is also fresh off of performing at the first annual Rolling Loud festival being held in Pattaya City, Thailand.
