Lil Wayne celebrates “Tha Carter” album’s 18th anniversary

Lil Wayne is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all-time. He and his fans also viewed himself as the “greatest rapper alive.” Wayne’s buzz started in his early teens, as he came up under the Hot Boys group, with Birdman, BG, Juvenile, and Turk. Wayne soon emerged as one of the biggest solo artists, in the world.

One of Wayne’s biggest albums to date, is “Tha Carter.” This was his fourth studio album, as it was released back in 2004. Tha Carter debuted at number five in the US, and was led by hits such as “Go DJ” and “Bring It Back,” featuring Mannie Fresh.

June 29 was the 18th anniversary of Tha Carter, and Wayne took to Instagram, to celebrate. He reflected on himself as an artist at the time, and dubbed the album as a classic.

“18 years ago I had no idea of what you’d think abt this album and I was worried abt what it’d do but I never doubted what it would be. A classic. A living legend. A beast. A jewel. A part of me and you forever. That part. 2 every fan thats been a member of this Carter family, I ain’t shit without you.”
