Few rappers can match the intensity of Lil Wayne on a mainstream level, as he is very consistent. In fact, his run of album releases in consecutive years, 2008 through 2011, five albums, was the strongest since Ja Rule’s six from 1999-2004. Jay-Z dropped from eight albums from 1996-2003.
Lil Wayne appeared to have another run to close his career out, as he planned a two part Carter V release. Part one was to come in December and part two was to come in June. When this didn’t happen, Lil Wayne placed the blame firmly on Birdman and Cash Money Records.
In the midst of the tension with his label, Lil Wayne announced another album. He said The Free Weezy Album was coming soon and now the album has a release date. Fans should expect this Lil Wayne album to come in April.
