Magoo of Timbaland and Magoo has passed away at age 50

Magoo rose to fame in the 1990s, alongside Timbaland. Together, they were the Timbaland and Magoo duo. They were signed to Blackground Records and made many classic hits. Arguably, the group’s most-recognizable hit is “Luv 2 Luv Ya.” While Timbaland’s career has continued, until this day, Magoo’s last relevant feature was in 2003. Unfortunately, his return to the spotlight was his untimely passing.

Magoo is a part of the fabric of the Virginia hip hop scene. While Virginia flies under the radar, the entire state has influenced the culture of hip hop and pop music more than any other area. Most people don’t immediately associate people like Timbaland, Pharrell, and The Clipse/Pusha T with Virginia, but that’s their home. When they were on the come up, Magoo was right there with them.

Magoo put in work and his unique voice made him a star. When he and Timbaland were making hits, they were consistently among the hottest names in hip hop. All of their songs dominated the radio, but when Magoo decided to leave the spotlight, he left for good. This morning, people are waking up to the news of his untimely passing, at the age of 50. His real name was Melvin Barcliff.
