Man robbed of $200K Rolex after meeting women at Walgreens
A South Florida man became the latest victim of a classic robbery scheme after meeting three women at a Walgreens. The incident occurred at the Walgreens location on 1300 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd, according to Hallandale Beach police.
The man, seeking companionship, struck up a conversation with the women, who identified themselves as “Layla,” “Rose,” and “Nicki,” in the checkout line. Surveillance footage captured him giving his phone number to one of the women.
At 3 a.m., the trio called the man and arranged to visit his home. Once there, they distracted him and made off with over $200,000 worth of Rolex watches and jewelry.
Hallandale Beach police spokesperson Grace Mariot stated, “They’re individuals that know what they are doing,” suggesting the women have likely pulled off similar heists before. Authorities have identified the suspects as Antonietta Ceccarelli, Lexi Buffaloe, and Juliana Cortes, and warrants have been issued for their arrests.
This type of scam, often targeting men who meet women at bars, nightclubs, or casinos, is not uncommon in South Florida. The incident serves as a reminder to be cautious when inviting strangers into your home.
