Mike Prince explains Rap-A-Lot’s history and business endeavors
Mike Prince is a well-known industry figure, among industry insiders. In addition to being an essential member of the Rap-A-Lot family, Mike Prince is the head of his own Freak-A-Lot Entertainment. There isn’t much Mike Prince doesn’t do. Aside from being a family man and one of J. Prince’s closest family members, he is a recording artist, and a businessman. Recently, Mike Prince spoke with Hip-HopVibe.com about his history in the music industry.
Mike Prince is a member of J. Prince’s family. As a result, he was around when J. Prince was turning Rap-A-Lot Records into a force, releasing music by the likes of Scarface. The company may have began as a record label, but it expanded into much more. As J. Prince branched out into boxing and other forms of entertainment, the company grew. Watching the moves J. Prince made helped Mike Prince establish himself as a powerhouse in the industry. He saw how the company grew to house both Floyd Mayweather and Drake.
Mike Prince has accomplished more than most and he’s the first to say he played his role. Prince was the keynote speaker at the HHV Media Summit, in Austin, Texas. The event took place during SXSW and Prince was on a panel, alongside C Mack, Don Yolo, and Ryan J. Collectively, they discussed their experiences navigating a business that is unstable, by nature. Prince, meanwhile, spoke about how Rap-A-Lot expanded, having ties to Floyd Mayweather and Drake, and remaining a force after thirty years plus.
