Monica calls out Patrick Howley for racist CMT Awards comments
A few weeks ago, Monica performed at the CMT Awards, and Anthony Mackie also hosted. This is one of the biggest country music awards shows. One conservative reporter, Patrick Howley, wasn’t afraid to voice his frustration about Monica, Anthony Mackie and other Black celebrities attending.
Howley said that the CMT Awards isn’t “Wakanda.” He also added that there were so many Black people there. Howley made things even worse, by saying “I don’t know who this Black guy who’s hosting it. It’s supposed to be country music. No offense. I mean, y’all have hip-hop and basketball. Just fly with your flock bro.”
Now, Monica is finally responding to the bigoted comments, made by Howley. She acknowledged that there are other people who think like him, but not by the “masses.” Monica also shouted out the country artists she works with, such as Jimmie Allen and Little Big Town, as she performed with the two, at the CMT Awards.
“I have an all star LEGENDARY team of true country artist that are currently working with me that would beg to differ ! Because of the genuine hearts of @lesliefram1 & @cmt … I shared the stage w/ @jimmieallen & @littlebigtown …This was the first of many times that you will see me! I see You caught that my skin is melanated, but you missed that it was tough.”
