Mother-son duo busted for running drug pipeline in Jacksonville

In a startling development in Jacksonville Beach, a mother and son have been charged with operating a sophisticated drug trafficking organization. Heidi Huettinger, 68, and her son, John Klimenko, 32, allegedly coordinated the smuggling of illegal drugs from Northern California to Northeast Florida.

Dubbed the Klimenko drug trafficking organization, the duo is accused of distributing various Delta 9 THC products. This includes vapor cartridges, chocolate bars, and hard candies designed to mimic everyday sweets. Thus, making them particularly appealing to younger demographics. Additionally, authorities seized 30 grams of Psilocybin gummies, known for their potent hallucinogenic effects.

This operation is unusual due to the family dynamic involved. “It’s rare to see a mother and son working together in such capacities,” said Mike Dubet, DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Jacksonville Office. The investigation revealed that the drugs were transported using the U.S. Postal Service. In addition, a postal worker implicated as part of the operation.

The arrest came after a long-term investigation. It was highlighted when Huettinger was stopped with postal packages containing drugs. Upon her arrest, she began cooperating with federal agents. As a result, revealing her role in distributing the drugs sourced by her son.

If convicted, Heidi Huettinger faces up to 30 years in prison for the Psilocybin trafficking charge alone.
