Six years ago, MTV launched their “Hottest MCs in the Game” series to much controversy. Eventually, MTV moved this series over to the internet with Sway Calloway becoming the face of the countdown. Over the past few years, this list has evolved and it remains the biggest event in hip hop.

All in all, 2012 was one of the biggest years in hip hop. Hip hop witnessed the emergence of 2 Chainz, yet also saw Das EFX’s Krazy Drayz launch his solo career. In the midst of all this, Nas and Lupe Fiasco released new albums. But, there also was quality albums from veterans like Game and Big Boi, along with the current stars dominating.

During MTV’s latest episode of “Week in Jams,” they announced their ninth and tenth “Hottest MCs in the Game.” Two of 2012’s biggest rookies were Future and Meek Mill, as their debut albums did exceptionally well. Due to their efforts, Future and Meek Mill hold the ninth and tenth positions on MTV’s list, which are subject to change.
