The L.O.X. have been one of the most influential trios in hip hop history. With Jadakiss as their most notable member, The L.O.X. have nearly three decades in the game. Collectively and individually, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch are considered among the best lyricists of all-time. Also, each three have notable crossover solo hits. As a result, they are hip hop legends in every sense of the word. This week, The L.O.X. were honored with their own mural.

The L.O.X. emerged from Yonkers, after Mary J. Blige helped cast the spotlight on them. From the beginning, The L.O.X. were with Ruff Ryders. Before becoming a full-fledged label, Ruff Ryders were a management company. Their first act, DMX, was signed to Def Jam. Meanwhile, Ruff Ryders placed The L.O.X. at Bad Boy Records. In 1997, Ruff Ryders secured a label deal with Interscope Records. After that, they fought Bad Boy to join the Ruff Ryders label.

The L.O.X. are hip hop history and this is the fiftieth anniversary of hip hop. Hailing from Yonkers, New York, The L.O.X. originated right next to hip hop’s birthplace. Considering how close Yonkers is to The Bronx, many consider them to be almost the same city. When it boils down to it, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch are as hip hop as it gets. In addition, they are New York. As a result, they were honored with a mural.
