Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” goes platinum
Nicki Minaj has been very consistent in 2022, regarding music releases. She’s put out hit singles such as “Do We Have A Problem?” and “Bussin,” which both featured Lil Baby.
Nicki also went on to release her “Super Freaky Girl” single, which debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This record sampled Rick James’ classic 1981 hit single, “Super Freak.”
Super Freaky Girl also became the first solo rap song by a female rapper to debut at number one, since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing),” back in 1998. Nicki’s Super Freaky Girl remix was also a hit, which included JT, BIA, Maliibu Miitch, and Katie Got Bandz.
Now, Super Freaky Girl has reached another huge milestone. It is now officially certified platinum in the US, according to Chart Data. This comes after selling over 1 million units.
Nicki has also submitted Super Freaky Girl for Grammy nominations. Oddly though, it was placed into the pop categories. Nicki went on to take issue with this, on Instagram Live and Twitter. However, it still continues to be one of the biggest records of 2022.
