The “Queen of Rap,” is showing off her talents overseas in one of the largest events of the year. After a brief hiatus, Nicki Minaj takes over 2023 Trinidad Carnival. Pictures of the superstar surfaced online Tuesday, wearing a violet one piece covered in colorful beading. Nicki who hasn’t posted online since November of last year, began teasing her appearance at the famous festival throughout the week. Paying tribute to her homeland of Trinidad Nicki performed throughout the region as fans filled the streets to catch a glimpse of the icon.
Nicki Minaj is an artist of a generation, her influence, style and originality is legendary. Paving an incredible lane for female rappers and women of color, she is one of the best-selling music artist of all time. With more than 100 million records sold, multiple Billboard Music Awards and an impressive catalog she continues to reign supreme in rap and hip-hop. Having a career that spans almost two decades, Nicki is also known to embrace new talent. In 2022 she dominated the year collaborating with artist like Lil Baby, Fivio Foreign and Coi Leray on chart topping singles. Furthermore proving her legendary status, her single “Super Freaky Girl” debuted at number one, making her the second female rap artist to do so in twenty-two years.
Although Nicki stepped away from social media, she returned with a bang celebrating her culture. While enjoying the culture, Nicki made several appearances including a small performance in the middle of a parade. Nicki also payed tribute to fellow Trinidad artist like Destra Garcia, Machel Montano and Patrice Roberts during the week long celebration. As fans and onlookers watched an amazement, the love and support for Nicki Minaj is undeniable.
