Nike suspends relationship with Kyrie Irving, and won’t release Kyrie 8 sneakers, after he posted link to documentary that contained anti-Semitic beliefs

Nike suspends its business relationship with Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving has caught plenty of heat online, over the last two weeks. This is due to Kyrie posting a link to social media, of a documentary which spread anti-Semitic beliefs. Initially, Kyrie didn’t back down, when asked about this, by local New York media.

Kyrie was then given an opportunity to condemn the anti-Semitic rhetoric in this documentary, but refused to do so. That resulted in the Nets suspended him for at least five games, this week. On Thursday night, Kyrie finally issued an apology to the Jewish community, on Instagram.

However, Kyrie is still feeling the effects of him posting this documentary, on his social media feeds. On Friday night, Nike announced in a statement, that they are suspending their business relationship with him.

“At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism. To that end, we’ve made the decision to suspend our relationship with Kyrie Irving effective immediately and will no longer launch the Kyrie 8. We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone.”

Kyrie has also been trending over the past year, for other wrong reasons. This includes refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which resulted in him not being able to play in Nets home games, last season.
