On the Record: Stalley talks Nas’ “Illmatic” [VIDEO]

Modern hip hop critics point to Nas 1994 debut Illmatic as the ultimate classic album. Earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar received numerous comparisons to Nas. At the close of last month, Kendrick Lamar released good kid, m.A.A.d. city, his debut album. Most said this album could be the Illmatic of the new generation.

Several lyrical artists have invaded the game in recent years, carving out their own niche. For the Untouchable Maybach Empire, they were awarded two. In 2011, Wale and Stalley were signed to Rick Ross’ label. Wale has made a commercial transition, meanwhile Stalley has continued to show his lyrical range every chance he gets.

Stalley recently went “On the Record” about Nas’ Illmatic. During his interview, Stalley discussed Nas and the album. With Nas being Stalley’s favorite rapper, he discussed him for forty-five seconds. Each artist who goes “On the Record” has forty-five seconds to speak on their favorite rapper and their favorite release.
