Hip hop has become an integral part of SXSW, evidenced by Fader Fort becoming the main draw for the event. With hip hop, at times, there is drama that comes along with it. Only two weeks ago, Bankroll Fresh died in a tragic shooting.
Violence is something many associate with hip hop, due to shootings and fighting that takes place. Because of SXSW’s growing popularity, a risk of violence is also present. This was the case for the close of this year’s SXSW festivities.
As SXSW came to an end, an altercation took place on 6th Street and it turned violent. The situation could not be diffused and became a dangerous situation. Footage was exposed of a man with a handgun that opened fire on some rivals.
