Arguably the biggest moment in the entertainment industry so far this year, has been Will Smith slapping Chris Rock, at the Oscars, in March. That went down after Rock’s “GI Jane” joke, about Jada Pinkett’s bald head. Smith then proceeded to yell “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!

Smith has since been banned from the Oscars, and other Academy events, for the next 10 years. Prior to that, Smith apologized to the Academy, as well as Rock.

There have been multiple films put on hold, since Smith’s infamous slap. One of them that was rumored, was “Bad Boys 4.” This has been one of the most popular film series, of Smith’s career.

Now, Sony Chairman Tom Rothman has denied the rumor of Bad Boys 4 being on hold, because of the slap, to Deadline. In fact, it is currently still in development. Rothman saluted how great of a person Smith is, and acknowledged that he made a mistake.

“No. That was inaccurate,” Rothman explained. “That movie’s been in development and still is. There weren’t any brakes to pump because the car wasn’t moving. That was a very unfortunate thing that happened, and I don’t think it’s really my place to comment, except to say that I’ve known Will Smith for many years, and I know him to be a good person. That was an example of a very good person having a very bad moment, in front of the world. I believe his apology and regret is genuine, and I believe in forgiveness and redemption.”
