St Louis high school staff member gets into altercation with student

There have been an alarming number of classroom altercations, between authority figures and students, caught on camera. This year, alone, there were two viral incidents. One situation was so bad that a teacher ducked for cover, as a student began pummeling her. In another, a student caused so much pain to a teacher, that she laid on the ground and cried in pain. What is causing these outbursts can never be clear. However, even authority figures have a right to defend themselves. In a St. Louis, Missouri school, this is exactly what happened.

Well over a decade ago, teachers gave up the losing battle against students using cell phones. Many teachers began allowing the children to use their phones to assist with school work. As a result, phones are not quite the big deal they once were. However, social media and its use have become a prevalent problem in the classroom. One student/teacher altercation began over a phone being used in that way. In this current incident, in St. Louis, social media is how the altercation became public knowledge, in the first place.

Exactly what led up to this altercation is not exactly known. However, when the video begins, it shows a student and an authority figure in the throes of a physical altercation. Both were females and each were holding their own. What is disturbing is how nobody intervened, students or authority figures. The situation was filmed and posted on social media. As a result, the video found its way to the news, and they interviewed people, asking their opinion on what they saw.
