Tonight, BET continues their phenomenal music programming. Over the past three years, BET has had the best lineup on television. This evening marks the first night of “Death Row Chronicles,” a documentary about Suge Knight and his Death Row Records regime.
Suge Knight was mentioned, frequently, in Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s documentary, “The Defiant Ones,” on HBO. Their documentary likely helped inspire BET to go in-depth on Death Row. Often, people talk about how the label ended, but don’t speak on the highlights.
Death Row Records was the most-successful hip hop label, in history, during its time. Literally, every album on the label, until 1996, went platinum. But, the opening scenes, talking about how Suge Knight treated his first wife, and squandered his chance to play for the San Francisco 49ers has Twitter talking.
