Summer Walker asks what’s R&B after not winning at AMAs

The 2022 American Music Awards were held in Los Angeles last night, as many fans agreed that several artists may have been snubbed of wins.

Some expected Summer Walker to win in R&B categories, which surprisingly didn’t happen. She was nominated in the categories of favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album. These both went on to be given to Beyoncé.

Shortly after the AMAs concluded, Summer asked her fans in her Instagram stories what is classified as R&B, in 2022. She believes that non-R&B songs are winning awards in R&B categories.

“What’s classified as R&B sounds so different in 2022 compared to back in the day,” Walker asked “These r&b awards be won by pop songs, hip hop songs, house songs, it’s really interesting. Thank goodness for my fans lmao. Y’all the only ones gone give a btch some credit.”

Last November, Summer released her sophomore album, Still Over It.” That went on to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and became her first number one project. The R&B star collaborated with Cardi B, Ari Lennox, Omarion, SZA, and more. It was led by singles such as “Ex For A Reason” with JT and “No Love” with SZA.
