SZA breaks Spotify record for streaming year as Black female artist

2023 was a massive year for SZA, as that came as a result of the release of her sophomore album,”SOS,” in December 2022. That project went on to see a number one debut in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart. Moreover, that also marked SZA’s first number one album, as it was her first project since her 2017 debut studio album, “Ctrl.”

Meanwhile, SZA has reached another major milestone, heading into 2024. She has now broken the record for the biggest streaming year for a Black female artist in Spotify history. This comes as a result of accumulating over 7.86 billion streams.

SOS initially contained 22 songs in total, including collaborations with Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Some of the biggest records of the year were also included, such as “Snooze,” as well as the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping “Kill Bill.

SZA is also heading into 2024 on a strong note. She is nominated for 15 Grammys next month, which is the most for any artist, this year. This includes categories such as Best Album and Best Song.
