SZA’s “SOS” becomes first album by a Black female artist to spend its first two weeks at number one on Billboard 200, since Beyonce’s “Beyoncé”

SZA sets Billboard 200 milestone with “SOS”

SZA currently has the number one project in the US, with her new sophomore album, “SOS.” It has officially reached its second straight week at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, as it sold 180,000 more units, over the past week. This comes after SOS did 318,000 units in its first week.

SOS went on to debut 20 out of its 23 songs, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This album was led by hit singles such as “Good Days,” “I Hate U” and “Shirt.” This was also SZA’s first number one album of her career. She also set various streaming records, following the release of SOS.

However, SZA continues to make even more history, with SOS. According to Chart Data, it is the first album by a Black female artist to spend its first two weeks at number on on the Billboard 200, since Beyonce‘s 2013 self-titled “Beyoncé” album. Many consider that project by Bey to be a classic, and now, SZA’s SOS is also being included in that category.

SOS is SZA’s first project since her 2017 debut studio album, “Ctrl.” At the time, that debuted at number three in the US. That was led by breakout records such as “The Weekend” and “Love Galore” featuring Travis Scott.
