Next month, SZA is nominated for an impressive nine Grammy awards. Therefore, this is the most out of any nominated artist for 2024. This comes as a result of the massive 2023 that SZA had, with her sophomore album, “SOS.” This project was initially released in December 2022, and debuted at number one in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart. It also marked SZA’s first number one album, and her first project released since her 2017 debut album, “Ctrl.”

Meanwhile, SOS continues to set various impressive records. This time, it has surpassed Mariah Carey’s self-titled 1990 debut album, to become the longest running top 10 album by a Black woman on Billboard 200 chart, which is now at 50 weeks. This comes after SOS initially tied the record, over the past week, as surpassing it became a quick matter of time.

SOS initially contained 23 songs, including lead singles such as “Shirt” and “Good Days.” “Kill Bill” quickly became a massive fan-favorite, and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Snooze” has also since become a consistent Hot 100 hit within the top 10. It was even the only song of 2023 to spend every week within the top 10, on the Hot 100.
