SZA’s “SOS” has second biggest opening week, for album streams by a female artist, in US history

SZA sets new opening streaming record with “SOS” album

This weekend, SZA’s new “SOS” album officially debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. That was also her first number one album. Anticipation was sky-high for SOS, as this was SZA’s first project since 2017, which was her debut studio album, “Ctrl.

SZA delivered 23 songs on SOS, which was led by singles such as “Good Days,” “I Hate U” and “Shirt.” Collaborations also included Travis Scott, Phoebe Bridgers, Don Toliver, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. SZA also experimented with rap, rock, & pop, on records such as “Low,” “Smoking On My Ex Pack” and “F2F.”

SZA has also set various streaming records, with SOS. This includes the biggest streaming week for a R&B album in US history. This was with 404.58 million. The album now also has the second biggest opening week streams, by an album from a female artist, in US history.

SZA initially announced the release date for  “SOS” earlier this month, while appearing on “Saturday Night Live.” This was while she performed her Shirt single. That was one of the biggest SNL episodes of the year, as SZA also appeared in multiple skits, as Keke Palmer also hosted and announced her own pregnancy.
