T.I. had a solid string of hits in the mid-2000s. By 2012, T.I. felt it was worth at least $75 million, but his gamble didn’t fully pan out. However, his gamble did open the door for major reevaluations of artists’ catalogs. As a result, many artists have discovered their music portfolios are worth well over $100 million. In hindsight, T.I.’s collection is worth much more. Recently, he was at an event, and he asked the DJ to play some of his hit records. In turn, the man played Destiny’s Child. As a result, Tip got him together.
T.I., to the DJ’s credit, did appear on the Destiny’s Child song he played. The song was their 2004-2005 hit, “Soldier,” which also featured Lil Wayne. When the song dropped, it became a major hit single, which was all over the radio. During that period of time, T.I. was morphing from being a popular rapper to being a superstar. As far as his own music was concerned, “Bring ‘Em Out” was dominating radio, and becoming a hit single. While he already had hits out, “Bring ‘Em Out” was his first hit of that caliber, and many more followed.
T.I. was at an event with his son, King, along with DJ Toomp. As most know, Toomp produced many of his hits. When he was there, T.I. told the DJ actually providing the music to play some of his hits. After that, he played “Soldier” by Destiny’s Child. Quickly, T.I. put an end to that, telling him to stop. In turn, Tip freestyled some of his hits, and the crowd got into it. This served a valuable lesson to the DJ.
