When it comes to Black History Month, there are different ideas of how it should be celebrated. In actuality, some politicians are working to abolish the holiday. Making matters worse, it seems like people act up the worst during this time of year. Now, a school is getting a lot of attention on social media for an interesting Black History Month lesson. The classroom is depicting Sears, from back in the day, and has two doors, one marked “Colored” for Black people, and one marked “Whites,” for White people.

Surely, the teacher wasn’t thinking when this was done. For the obvious reasons, this has the potential to upset a lot of people. When it comes to Black History, there is so much more that happened outside of the negative moments. Many inventions were made by Black people that most aren’t even aware of. At the same time, they use them every day. For an educator to go straight to segregation says a lot about where their head is at.

Online, there is a lot of outrage surrounding the above image. This is from an actual school and this is how Black History Month is being celebrated. There are two doors depicted as a Sears department store from this period of time. Representing segregation, the doors are separate entrances for Black people and White people. As a result, the doors are separately marked “Colored” and “Whites.” This has understandably left a lot of people confused and upset.
