Tonight, the African-American community is being celebrated on TV One with the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards. The Vanguard Award was recently presented and Russell Simmons was the presenter. Few people have advanced African-Americans the way he has.
The successes of such figures as Jay-Z, Ludacris, and LL Cool J were all possible due to Russell Simmons’ effort. Back in 1984, Russell Simmons launched Def Jam. This led to him amassing a huge fortune, as the Queens native now works in music and media.
Russell Simmons recently sold his media company, Global Grind, to the sister company of TV One, Interactive One. Now a part of the company, Russell Simmons was front and center during the award show. Fans often seem to have some type of reaction to seeing Russell Simmons and they went wild on Twitter after seeing him at the NAACP Image Awards.
