Updated projections in for “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”

The Marshall Mathers LP 2It was a good surprise to have Eminem drop an album this year. Recent years in hip hop have seen Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Mac Miller, and their circle take their place as hip hop’s new normal. Meanwhile, guys like Eminem and Jay-Z have become more distant from the regulars.

A major reason 2013 hip hop is being referred to as the start of a new golden era is because all of these artists are coexisting. In Eminem’s case, he returned with The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which dropped this past Tuesday. Early projections had the album slated to move 350,000 copies and then 1.1 million in its first week.

This week, more projections came in and these are expected to be a bit more accurate than the others. In these projections, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is expected to push around 700,000 copies in its first week. Eminem will have the second-highest selling debut in his first week behind Justin Timberlake with The 20/20 Experience.
