White professor has Black student arrested at HBCU

Yesterday, an incident took place at Winston-Salem State University, in North Carolina, that has people upset. This is just another instance, of many, that have people angry. A young Black woman was in class and a disagreement with her instructor led to her being placed under arrest. The outrage stems from the instructor actually calling the police on this young woman, over an in-class disagreement. As a result, the instructor was met with much backlash from her classroom, and online.

The past decade have seen people more divided than they have been in a generation. What is sad about situations such as these are that, at the core of it, people are being victimized. Instead of people rallying against the hurtful actions, they take sides based on the division. As a result, the victims end up facing further attacks, as do the media outlets who report on the wrongdoing. Obviously, the solution to the problem is for people to stop hurting others.

At Winston-Salem State University, a female Black student got into a disagreement with her White instructor. The student wrote a paper and her instructor asked her to rewrite the paper, with only six hours left before it was due. While the student declined to rewrite her paper, she did show up to present with her group to avoid receiving a zero grade. However, this is when the professor and the student got into an argument. After that, the instructor accused the student of yelling at her, so she called the police, who arrested her in a hostile manner. The professor stopped the police and asked for an apology and she would call it off.
