Will Smith was reportedly not asked to leave Oscars, after slapping Chris Rock

Will Smith was not asked to leave Oscars after slapping Chris Rock

Social media is still buzzing, after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, last weekend. That viral moment went down after Rock made a “GI Jane” joke, about Jada Pinkett’s hairloss condition. Smith went on to yell “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth.”

There has since been reports about Smith being asked to leave the Oscars after that incident, but refusing. There was also said to be heated conversations with Smith’s reps, about what went down.

Now, it appears that Smith was never completely asked to leave the venue, according to TMZ. Producer Will Packer reportedly told Smith that he could still stay. He approached Smith about the situation, about 35 minutes after the slap. Five minutes later, Smith won the Best Actor award, for King Richard.

Some did want the “King Richard” actor to leave, but it was ultimately decided on, that he could stay. This was due to there not being a consensus on that, during commercial break discussions.

On Wednesday night, Rock also had first first comedy stand-up show, since the incident, in Boston. He was met with a roar of applause, as he said he’s still processing the incident, and will discuss it more at a later time, and laugh about it. Tickets for Rock’s shows have since skyrocketed, in the aftermath of the slap.
