Because Cam’ron is known, commercially, for hits like “Oh Boy” and “Hey Ma,” some casual fans need a reminding. When it boils down to it, Cam’ron is one of the best emcees to ever touch a mic. The Harlem rapper has made a huge name for himself, over the past two decades, plus. Before he dropped his debut album, Cam’ron already had years in the game.

Cam’ron, at one point, was the most-successful rapper from Harlem. After his record deal broke down, Cam’ron established Diplomat Records. Already, Cam had his group, The Diplomats, so all of his label deals were joint ventures. Aside from the label, Cam’ron was able to consistently drop commercial hits. From the point of longevity, Cam’ron had it, but he has since faded from the spotlight.

Last summer, Cam’ron competed against The L.O.X. on Verzuz. Alongside Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, he faced off with Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch. Those guys went out and gave a classic performance, where Jadakiss was crowned the best Verzuz performer ever. Now, Cam’ron and his crew is touring with The L.O.X. Before their most-recent date, Cam stopped by Ho 97 to see Funkmaster Flex.
