When it’s all said and done, Dr. Dre will go down as the top producer in hip hop history. In the 1980s, Dre rose to fame as a member of NWA. As NWA went onto define West Coast gangsta rap, the group had two members rise to fame. Eazy-E, as the group’s leader, became a star, and Ice Cube also gained fame, as the group’s lyricist. Meanwhile, Dre was the one responsible for making the beats happen, as NWA became legends.

NWA effectively disbanded, when Dre left the group and left Ruthless Records. Dr Dre went onto form Death Row Records with Suge Knight. Almost immediately, Dre helped Snoop Dogg become the biggest rapper of all-time, at the time, and also led Warren G to stardom. Upon leaving Death Row, Dr Dre formed Aftermath Entertainment, where he helped mold Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, and Kendrick Lamar into stars.

There was a time, in the mid-1990s, when Dr Dre didn’t receive props for the stars he created. In 1999, he returned with “Still D.R.E.,” where Dre took those props. That’s why the Super Bowl tapped Dr. Dre for the halftime show, last night. The show included performances from Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem. This all highlighted the greatness that is Dr Dre.
