Giannis celebrates after his brother Thanasis dunked on Patrick Williams

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the most unlikely superstar in the NBA. When Giannis was drafted, he didn’t even make the Milwaukee Bucks’ rotation. However, Giannis worked his way into being a solid role player by 2015. When the Bucks failed to make the 2016 playoffs, Giannis became the leader. During Giannis’ 2017 season, he became the “Greek freak.” The bet was that when Giannis figured his game out, he’d go to the next level.

Giannis began putting up insane numbers. As great as Giannis was, the Bucks remained mediocre, fighting for the last playoff spots. In 2019, Giannis put it all together, having an MVP season, and leading the Bucks to the NBA’s best record. Because of Giannis superstar status, many expected him to leave Milwaukee in free agency. Despite the “Giannis to Golden State” rumors, Giannis chose to remain with the Bucks, a move few superstars would make.

Giannis’ Bucks lost a winnable Game 2 at home, against the Chicago Bulls. With the series shifting back to Chicago, the Bucks faced falling behind 2-1. Giannis needed a strong supporting cast, especially with Khris Middleton out. Instead, Giannis had Grayson Allen playing like a superstar, and a blowout win. It got so good for the Bucks that Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Giannis’ older brother, got in on the action. He also got one in on Patrick Williams, posterizing him.
